With its second Tampa-area merger in less than a year, Skoda Minotti has merged with Dowell & Perez, P.A., positioning Tampa as its second-largest business market in the country. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed. In July 2012, Ohio-headquartered Skoda Minotti merged with Tampa CPA firm Baumann, Raymondo & Co.
“Good things are happening in Tampa, and we are excited to join Skoda Minotti,” says Dan Dowell, CPA, former Dowell & Perez president and now co-partner-in-charge of the newly-blended office. “The merger will enhance our client’s ability to reach their goals and objectives due to the wide array of services we now provide. Combined, our niche services and specialty areas will help clients strengthen their financial position beyond the traditional accounting, auditing and tax services.”
Skoda Minotti offers clients a full complement of business advisory services, including telecom, IT support and managed solutions, financial services, private wealth management, professional staffing and strategic marketing.
According to Gregory J. Skoda, CPA, chairman of Skoda Minotti, “We’re thrilled to welcome Dowell & Perez to our family of business advisors. Combined, we provide an exceptional level of depth and expertise for individuals, businesses and organizations seeking complete advisory services, growth and stability.”
Dowell, along with Skoda Minotti partner Alex White, CPA, will manage as co-partners-in-charge of the Tampa office. Reinforcing the team, Skoda Minotti partner Michael Milazzo, CPA, MBA, has relocated to the Tampa area, bringing 20+ years’ of tax department outsourcing experience, serving clients with complex tax situations requiring sophisticated tax assistance. Dowell & Perez co-founder Mike Perez, CPA, along with partners Mike Luker and Tim Donovan will also assume expanded business development roles as the firm continues to grow.
Over the last two years, Skoda Minotti has merged with a total of nine businesses, including four CPA firms, one marketing agency, and four information technology companies, most recently Ohio-based DataServ in May 2013.
“We are continually looking for like-minded partners, specifically in the main lines of our business,” Skoda said. “Accounting and tax, IT, marketing, asset management and staffing firms are always of interest, primarily within our current markets of Tampa, Cleveland and Akron, Ohio.” Skoda did not rule out opportunities in other markets, and added, “We will always consider a strong opportunity in a new U.S. market.”
