Skoda Minotti, a leading accounting and financial services firm, is now authorized to prepare and issue audit reports on U.S. public companies after completing its registration with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). Section 102 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 prohibits accounting firms that are not registered with the Board from preparing or issuing audit reports on U.S. public companies.
The PCAOB was created by the 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley Act in response to a series of accounting scandals, notably those involving WorldCom and Enron. The PCAOB oversees the auditors of public companies in order to protect the interests of investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, fair, and independent audit reports.
Skoda Minotti sought registration with the PCAOB because there is currently a demand for audit services among small to mid-sized public companies.
“Some of the larger firms have become resource constrained, and this creates an opportunity in the marketplace,” said Gregory J. Skoda, Chairman of Skoda Minotti “Many public companies are the same size or even smaller than our existing privately held clients and are dealing with many of the same issues. These types of public companies are a perfect fit for our organization as we have proved in the past that we will be able to work with them and help them achieve their goals.”
In addition to its team of professionals, who have a wealth of experience dealing with public company audits, Skoda Minotti will be able to draw on vast public company audit experience as a member of the BDO Seidman Alliance. Skoda Minotti recently became an independent member of the Alliance which is a nationwide association of independently owned local and regional accounting and consulting firms.
